Q DO I STILL NEED TO SEE MY DENTIST?

A Yes, it is important to still see your dentist for regular check-ups, so they can monitor the health of your teeth and gums throughout treatment.

Q WHAT CAN I EAT WITH MY BRACE?

A When you are wearing a brace, you should avoid sticky, chewy hard foods for example chewing gum, sticky chocolate bars, raw carrots, hard bread crust and popcorn. Apples should be cut into small pieces. You should avoid habits such as chewing pens and nail biting too.

Q WHAT DO I DO IF MY BRACE BREAKS?

A Please call the practice on 01843-844600 and we will arrange to see you for a repair as soon as possible. If this happens outside surgery hours and you are not in pain, please call the surgery on the next working day to arrange an appointment. If you are in pain outside surgery hours the answer phone has details on how to access emergency care. Wax or 'Gishy-goo' can be applied to any areas which are sharp, including long wires and loose brackets.

Q WHAT DO I DO IF MY BRACE RUBS?

A Wax or even a softened piece of chewing gum can be applied to the piece of wire or brace that is rubbing. If a removable brace is rubbing, keep trying to wear it as much as possible, but contact the surgery as soon as possible to have it looked at.
